VAY Equipping Event – Nov 3, 2012

The VAY Equipping Event is coming back to the Bay Area on November 3! That’s SATURDAY, from 8:30 am to 3 pm. A full fun-filled day!

Last year event was a blast. Youth leaders and teachers from different churches came learning and laughing together. Many applied what they learned and reported that “it really works!” Their Sunday School classrooms are more manageable. The children behave better. Youth groups sense a clearer purpose. Bible studies more focused. Thank God for the dedication and giftedness of the VAY Training Staff from Southern California, the event last year was a success. Many participants have been waiting for another event this year.

Well … the wait is over! The training staff from Southern Cal will once again come up to help us grow as volunteers, workers and leaders at our local church. There will be additional staff to train us in a new area of ministry – worship. And, the new District Superintendent, our beloved Muc Su Thạch will be here as well. Many good things await you at the event!

Breakfast and coffee will be available for those who arrive at 8:30 am. Come early & mingle with us. The program will start at 9 am.

Theme: ”The Truth Will Set You Free” (John 8:31-32)

3 main tracks of training: Children Ministry, Youth Ministry and Worship Ministry.

9 workshops filled with the Biblical foundation and practical ideas. They will bring new life to your personal walk and your current ministry.

Resource tables showcasing the latest curriculum that you can choose for your own ministry.

A hearty lunch and plenty of time for networking and fellowship.

The event is sponsored by the Vietnamese Alliance Youth, hosted at Grace Alliance Church, 555 Los Coches Street, Milpitas, CA 95035. Please register HERE ahead of time. Do this as soon as you decide to go! It will take only 30 seconds, and it will help us serve you better!

There is a suggested donation of $10 at the door to help cover some expenses. But if you are financially tight, come anyway. We just want you to come and learn with us. See you soon!

Summer Camp 2012

Matthew, Mark, Luke and John recorded the “beginning” of Jesus’ Gospel 2000 years ago, but do you know that it hasn’t ended? And do you know that your own life story is a continuation of this Gospel? Come to camp and learn how the Gospel can change your life and how your life can write the next chapter of the Gospel.

Besides learning, you will have a lot of fun making new friends, reconnecting with old friends, or just hanging out with a lot of cool VAY people. The coolest guy you’ll meet is Andrew Nguyen, our camp speaker this year. Andrew currently serves as the Campus Minister with InterVarsity at UC Davis. An alumni of VAY camps himself, Andrew understands where you’re coming from and is passionate about helping you in your walk.

Here are some more facts you need to know about camp this year:

WHAT: V.A.Y. Summer Camp 2012
WHO: young people from 13 to 22 years old
WHEN: from 4pm Friday August 10 to 2pm Sunday August 12
WHERE: MayMac Conference Center
HOW MUCH: $160 postmarked by July 16, $180 afterward.

There will be a number of new churches joining us this year, but we only have 92 spaces available for campers. So HURRY UP and REGISTER! The absolute deadline is July 30. We will likely run out of space again, however, so register early if you want a spot. First come first serve. We did hit capacity and turn away some people last year!

To register download this VAY Youth Camp 2012 Brochure. Please send in registration together with your church group. Each church must send at least 1 adult leader for every 7 youth. Have the leader contact us for more information.

If possible, please send in a FULL PAYMENT of $160 per person by the early-bird deadline (JULY 16). It will help us speed up the registration line at camp and give you more time connecting with friends. To show our appreciation, if you send in a FULL PAYMENT (instead of just a deposit), there will be a FREE T-SHIRT with an awesome design waiting for you at camp.

You have worked hard to give your children the best chance to enter a prestigious university, but do you know what await them the moment they step on campus? You children may be prepared academically, but how can you gift them with the spiritual maturity to make wise decisions once they’re on their own? Are there resources available that can help them have a smooth transition into college and continue to grow in their spiritual walk? Come to the VAY PARENTS NIGHT to find out answers to these questions.

WHAT IS IT? An evening to inform and equip parents of college-bound students.

WHO SHOULD COME? This event is sponsored by the Northern Cal Vietnamese Alliance Youth to serve all Vietnamese churches in the Bay Area. If you’re planning for your children to attend college after high school, you need to come!

SO THE EVENT IS FOR PARENTS. SHOULD THE STUDENTS COME TOO? Of course!

WHO WILL ANSWER MY QUESTIONS? Andrew Nguyen currently serves as a Campus Minister with InterVarsity at UC Davis. He is the first Vietnamese staff in this well known international ministry organization. Andrew grew up in the Vietnamese Alliance Church, understands the Vietnamese culture, very familiar with the college scenes and is committed to help the college students grow in their Christian leadership while attending a secular university. Andrew will bring some students with him to share some real college-life stories.

We have a pretty fun year so far – a rally at Newark church in February, 30 Hours Famine at Grace Alliance and then another rally at Santa Clara church earlier this month. Coming up in August is an event everybody has been waiting for: our annual Youth Camp on August 12-14. The theme this year will be “Rhythms of Grace”. You will learn different ways to establish a rhythm so that the grace of God can continually flow into your life.

Here are some facts you need to know:

You are in for a treat! VAY is planning an exciting rally on Friday Nov 12. For speaker, we are fortunate to have Thomas Stebbins, a pastor loved and respected by the young and old in the Vietnamese church community. He will entertain you with his wit and inspire you with the Word of God. Of course we will all the usual fun stuff at a rally too – fun games, awesome worship, fantastic food, and plenty of time to hang out with friends.

It will be a full house so come early. And bring a lot of friends from school. This is a night they need to come!

If you missed camp, I won’t even attempt to tell you the marvelous things God has done. Let’s just say this following prayer by the group “Dumbledore’s Army” was answered: “That all campers share a super awesome friendly amazing meaningful Godly memorable glorious fabulous fluffy fashionable fun time.”

Yep. God answered that prayer. And much much more. Spirit filled. Sins forgiven. Bondage broken. Lives recommitted. Souls liberated. Relationships built. Purpose renewed. God is raising up a new generation of leaders, disciples. learners. For His Kingdom.

It was not an accident that God had us sing this lyric again and again at camp:

Rising up to take their place
With selfless faith

I see a near revival
Stirring as we pray and seek
We’re on our knees
We’re on our knees …

Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen

Camp Is Full!
