The Vietnamese Alliance Youth is planning a special equipping event to meet your needs. We are inviting several seasoned pastors, teachers and leaders from Southern California who have developed many thriving ministries among the Vietnamese youth and children down there. They will come and provide several practical training workshops:

  • How to Pray without Falling Asleep
  • How to Study the Bible for All Its Worth
  • Leading a Bible Study
  • Preparing and Leading a Youth Meeting
  • Spicing Up your Meeting with Purposeful Community Games
  • Caring through Relationships
  • Learning to Serve
  • Preparing to Teach Children Sunday School
  • Teaching Strategies for Children’s Church

Come and learn with us. You will not regret it.  There will be plenty of time for fellowship and networking.  And yeah … the food will be pretty good too!  Please CONTACT US to tell how many are coming from your church so we can prepare adequately.  Thank you!

====================================================================

IMPORTANT UPDATE (July 12 2011):  The camp is now FULL.  Please do not send in anymore registration.  Thank you.

====================================================================

We have a pretty fun year so far – a rally at Newark church in February, 30 Hours Famine at Grace Alliance and then another rally at Santa Clara church earlier this month.  Coming up in August is an event everybody has been waiting for: our annual Youth Camp on August 12-14. The theme this year will be “Rhythms of Grace”.  You will learn different ways to establish a rhythm so that the grace of God can continually flow into your life.

Here are some facts you need to know:

  • WHAT:  V.A.Y. Summer Camp 2011 (this year we’re joining with the Rock group again – yeah!)
  • WHO:  young people from 13 to 22 years old
  • WHEN:  from 4pm Friday August 12 to 2pm Sunday August 14
  • WHERE:  MayMac Conference Center
  • HOW MUCH:  $150 postmarked by July 11, $180 afterward.

The registration deadline is July 25, but we will likely run out of space before then so register early if you would like a spot.  First come first serve.  We did have to turn away some people last year!

To register download this VAY Youth Camp 2011 Brochure.  Please send in registration together with your church group.  Each church must send at least 1 adult leader for every 7 youth.  Have the leader contact us for more information.

Here are some pics from last year camp just to wet your appetite :-)

You are in for a treat!  VAY is planning an exciting rally on Friday Nov 12.  For speaker, we are fortunate to have Thomas Stebbins, a pastor loved and respected by the young and old in the Vietnamese church community.  He will entertain you with his wit and inspire you with the Word of God.  Of course we will all the usual fun stuff at a rally too – fun games, awesome worship, fantastic food, and plenty of time to hang out with friends.

It will be a full house so come early.  And bring a lot of friends from school.  This is a night they need to come!

2010 Camp Pictures

Posted: August 16, 2010 in Youth Camp

If you missed camp, I won’t even attempt to tell you the marvelous things God has done. Let’s just say this following prayer by the group “Dumbledore’s Army” was answered: “That all campers share a super awesome friendly amazing meaningful Godly memorable glorious fabulous fluffy fashionable fun time.”

Yep. God answered that prayer. And much much more. Spirit filled. Sins forgiven. Bondage broken. Lives recommitted. Souls liberated. Relationships built. Purpose renewed. God is raising up a new generation of leaders, disciples. learners.  For His Kingdom.

It was not an accident that God had us sing this lyric again and again at camp:

… I see a generation
Rising up to take their place
With selfless faith
With selfless faith

I see a near revival
Stirring as we pray and seek
We’re on our knees
We’re on our knees …

Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like you have loved me

Break my heart from what breaks yours
Everything I am for your kingdoms cause
As I go from nothing to eternity …

Here are some pictures to help stir up memory of what God has done.  I’m sure more pictures are coming in.  Keep checking back, and feel free to leave comments:

Camp Is Full!

Posted: August 1, 2010 in Youth Camp

Thanks to your enthusiastic responses, we have more than filled up the camp since last week.  Thank God the conference center still had one cabin for us to overflow into.  But at this time registration is absolutely closed.  PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN ANY MORE REGISTRATION.  We do not have any more room! Thank you for understanding.  Keep checking back here for future opportunities of fun youth ministry events.

VAY Camp LocationOnce again The ROCK! and V.A.Y. are joining together to worship God in the beautiful mountain of Santa Cruz.  Many of you know about this already and have made plan to attend.  This blog gives you more detail and shows you how to sign up.

When is it?

From 4 pm on Friday Aug 13 to 2 pm on Sunday Aug 15.

Where is it?

At Camp MayMac, the same beautiful conference center that we went to last year.

Whom is it for?

Middle School, High School and College students.  (this year we open up a small group for college students because there were some interest last year)

Who is our speaker?

Bobby Lee, Lead Pastor at the Convergence Church in Oakland and also co-founder of the Dignitas Project, a non-profit organization that seeks to empower people in the poorest parts of the world.  Bobby is a compassionate and gifted speaker.  He will bring blessings to many of us with his challenging messages.

How much does it cost?

Facility cost has increased this year but we keep the registration fee the same at $150 per person, provided that you send in your registration by July 23.  There will be a late fee of $30 if your registration is post marked after July 23.

How do I sign up?

If you are from The ROCK, follow the instruction in THIS LINK.  Contact Helicon or Betsy for more information.

If you are from Trinity or one of the Vietnamese churches, just download THIS FORM and send it in with the deposit.  We request that each church sends in all registrations together and please just pay the full amount if you can.  If you cannot attend for any reason we will refund the money, minus the deposit amount.  It helps make our lives much easier.  Thank you.

A note about available space and deadline:

We only have space for 75 campers.  We anticipate a full turn-out this year so send in your registration quickly to reserve your space. Remember we had to shut down registration last year when our capacity was hit.

Also, you must register by July 23, or you will be charged a late fee of $30.  No exception!  Our volunteer staff are super busy with other responsibilities too, and late registrations just make our jobs much more difficult.  Thank you for understanding!

Recruiting Leaders:

We strongly encourage that each church sends at least 1 leader for every 6 campers.  Our mission is to develop youth leaders for the local churches, and so a part of our camp purpose is to network youth leaders and empower them to serve.  Talk to your pastor, encourage your youth group leaders to come, or sign up as a leader at camp if you qualify.   There is a mandatory training session for all staff and leaders on July 17 (Saturday night) that you must attend.   There is also a registration discount if you serve as a leader at camp.  The detail will be announced later, but for the time being just keep that date open (July 17) if you are considering being a leader at this camp.

How do I get more information if  I have questions?

Just leave a comment to this blog, or contact Betsy and Helicon (the ROCK), or pastor Andrew (SF church), or Josh Du (Trinity), or Daniel Diep or pastor Hung.  You know how to reach us!

CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU ALL AT CAMP!

Here’s the official Rally Announcement that Ngoc wrote up for us …

2010 Famine Event – CORRECTION

Posted: March 23, 2010 in Famine

For those who’re registering to come to the 30 Hour Famine event this weekend, there are some corrections to the previous announcement.  Please take note of these:

  1. The registration fee has been reduced to $10 per person (instead of $15).  Sorry if you don’t like this change :-)
  2. The event starts at 7:30pm Friday night.  You will start fasting at 1pm from home, but don’t come to the church until 7:30pm OK?  Thanks!
  3. Again we’d like to emphasize the importance of having your parents sign the consent form and having at least 1 adult leader for every 6 youth.  We cannot take exception for this policy.  Thank you for understanding.

Looks like we will have about 50 people participating.  We’ll have a great time.  Please raise fund to help feed poor children around the world and pray for a safe and meaningful event this weekend.
